MOODIE — TERMS & CONDITIONS

By downloading, accessing, or using Moodie, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. USE OF THE SERVICE

• You must be at least 16 years old to use the app.
• You agree to use the app only for lawful and appropriate purposes.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
• You are responsible for any content you post, send, or share.
• Moodie connects you with users worldwide. You acknowledge that conversations may involve people from different countries, cultures, time zones, and legal jurisdictions.

2. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

To keep Moodie safe and enjoyable:

• ✅ Be respectful — No harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation. Be mindful of cultural differences and time zones.
• 🌍 Cultural sensitivity — Respect different cultures, religions, and viewpoints. Avoid stereotypes or offensive generalizations.
• 🚫 No adult or explicit content — No sexually explicit, pornographic, or inappropriate content.
• 🚫 No violence or hate speech — No promotion of violence, discrimination, or hate.
• 🚫 No spam or scams — No unsolicited ads, phishing, or fraud.
• 🚫 No illegal activity — Do not engage in or promote illegal activities.
• 🚫 No impersonation — Do not pretend to be someone else.
• 🚫 No disruption — Don’t flood chats or disrupt conversations.
• 🚫 No bots or scraping — Do not use automated tools or scrape data.
• ✅ Stay on topic — Use chat moods appropriately.
• ✅ Protect privacy — Do not share personal information of yourself or others (addresses, phone numbers, financial details, exact locations).
• 🌐 Location awareness — Never share your precise location, address, or places you frequent.
• ✅ Report issues — Use the report & block features responsibly.

Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent ban.

3. CHAT SESSIONS, IMAGES & DATA HANDLING

Messages and images sent in Moodie are end-to-end encrypted. Only the sender and the recipient can view the content; developers and third parties cannot access it. Data handling rules are as follows:

• Delivered Messages: Once a message or image is delivered to the recipient, it is automatically deleted after 15 minutes.
• Undelivered Messages: If a message cannot be delivered (e.g., recipient is offline), our servers will retain it for up to 48 hours. After 48 hours, it is permanently deleted.
• Anonymity & Safety: Moodie is anonymous; however, a unique User ID is generated and required to ensure block and report functionalities work appropriately.

You may be matched with users from anywhere in the world. Connection quality may vary based on geographic distance.

4. ACCOUNT & DATA

• Your messages and images are end-to-end encrypted, and are deleted 15 minutes after delivery (or after 48 hours on the server if undelivered).
• Moodie does not sell user data. Ads are provided via AdMob to support developer and server costs.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or Guidelines.

5. INTERNATIONAL USE & COMPLIANCE

Moodie is available globally. By using the app, you agree to:

• Comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws in your jurisdiction.
• Respect that other users may be subject to different laws and cultural norms.
• Understand that content moderation may vary based on local legal requirements.
• Accept that data may be transferred internationally for app functionality.

6. DATA COLLECTION & PRIVACY

• We collect: email & login info only. Your chats are stored on your phone during chat conversation and automatically deleted once chat ends.
• Data is used to: operate the app, match you with others, display ads, and improve the service.
• We use Firebase for authentication and collect email or anonymous login info to generate a User ID required for safety features (reporting/blocking). We strictly do not sell your data.
• Your chats and images are end-to-end encrypted and automatically deleted 15 minutes after delivery or after 48 hours if undelivered.
• Data is used to: operate the app, match you with others, display ads via AdMob (to support server/developer costs), and improve the service via Google Analytics9.

7. TRANSLATION SERVICES

Moodie uses Google ML Kit to provide language detection and translation features within the app.

Translation services are available on iOS 15.5+ and compatible Android devices.

When a translation is requested by tapping the translation icon in the chat screen, Google ML Kit and language model files are automatically downloaded to your device for translation services to work.

These models are stored locally and enable offline translation once downloaded.

By default, downloads occur only over Wi-Fi unless otherwise configured by the system.

Moodie does not collect or send your personal messages to external servers for translation. All translations are processed on your device.

Translation accuracy may vary depending on language pairs and message complexity.

Supported languages: en - English, zh - Mandarin Chinese, hi - Hindi, es - Spanish, fr - French, ar - Arabic, pt - Portuguese, ru - Russian, id - Indonesian, de - German, ja - Japanese, tr - Turkish, ko - Korean, it - Italian, vi - Vietnamese, pl - Polish, fa - Persian (Farsi), sv - Swedish, no - Norwegian

8. ADVERTISING

• Moodie is supported by advertising revenue via third-party networks (e.g., Google AdMob).
• Ads may be personalized where legally allowed; EU/UK users are asked for consent.
• We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of advertisers.

9. AGE RESTRICTIONS & CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

• Moodie is intended for users aged 16 and above.
• The app is not directed at children under 13 (COPPA), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
• If you are under 18, you should have parental consent before using global chat features.

10. SAFETY & CRISIS INTERVENTION

• If you encounter users expressing self-harm, violence, or other concerning behavior: use the report feature immediately.
• Contact local emergency services if there is immediate danger.
• We may cooperate with law enforcement when required by law or to prevent harm.

11. LIABILITY & DISCLAIMER

Moodie is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for user-generated content or damages from using the app. You use the global chat feature at your own risk and discretion.

Moodie is not a medical, therapeutic, or mental health service. It does not provide counseling, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention. Conversations on Moodie are for social and peer-connection purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional mental health care.

If you are experiencing emotional distress, thoughts of self-harm, or a mental health crisis, please seek immediate help from qualified professionals or contact local emergency services. Crisis hotlines and support services may also be available in your country.

12. GOVERNING LAW & DISPUTES

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Country/State]. For international disputes, we will attempt alternative dispute resolution first. Local laws in your jurisdiction may provide additional protections.
