Moodie ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Moodie mobile application ("App").

Moodie is not a wellness, counseling, or therapy app. We do not provide medical advice, mental health treatment, or crisis support. The app is designed solely for social and peer-based conversations. If you need professional mental health care, please consult a licensed provider or contact local emergency services.

1. Information We Collect

a) Firebase Authentication & Anonymity

Moodie is an anonymous chat app. We use Firebase Authentication to allow secure sign-in and assign a unique User ID. This User ID is needed for core safety features like blocking and reporting to work. Depending on your sign-in method, we may collect your email address. Passwords are never stored on our servers. Firebase handles this data securely in accordance with Google's privacy protocols.

b) Google AdMob

We use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show in-app ads, which help support the developer and cover server costs. AdMob may collect data such as Advertising ID, IP address, app usage statistics, and device information to serve relevant ads. This data is handled in accordance with Google's privacy policies.

c) In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Purchases made in the app (such as subscriptions or ad removal) are handled securely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not process or store your payment details. We only receive purchase status (e.g., active subscription) to unlock premium features.

d) Chat Data (Messages & Images)

All chats and images exchanged in Moodie are end-to-end encrypted. This means neither the developer nor anyone else can see your messages or images; only you and the recipient have access. Once delivered, messages and images are automatically deleted from our servers after 15 minutes. If a message or image cannot be delivered immediately (e.g., the recipient is offline), our servers will safely store it for up to 48 hours to attempt delivery, after which it is permanently deleted.

e) Analytics, Crash, and Usage Data

We use Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymized crash reports, usage statistics, and performance data to improve the app experience.

f) Reports and Blocks

Users can report or block others within the app. When a user is blocked, those two users will not be matched again in the future. Reports and blocks are processed to protect community safety, but no chat content is stored or reviewed since all conversations remain on-device.

Moodie strictly does not sell your data. We do not rent or share your personal information for third-party marketing. Data is only shared with service providers like Firebase, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and app store providers (Google Play / Apple App Store) to support core functionality.

4. Children’s Privacy

Moodie is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe your child has shared personal information with us, please contact us.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You can delete your account at any time through the in-app "Delete Account" option, which permanently removes your email and authentication details from our system. Since chats are only stored locally on your device, deleting your account does not require us to delete any conversations.

6. Translation Services

Moodie uses Google ML Kit to provide language detection and translation features within the app.

Translation services are available on iOS 15.5+ and compatible Android devices.

When a translation is requested by tapping the translation icon in the chat screen, Google ML Kit and language model files are automatically downloaded to your device for translation services to work.

These models are stored locally and enable offline translation once downloaded.

By default, downloads occur only over Wi-Fi unless otherwise configured by the system.

Moodie does not collect or send your personal messages to external servers for translation. All translations are processed on your device.

Translation accuracy may vary depending on language pairs and message complexity.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data using Firebase’s built-in security. However, no system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use the app responsibly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed. Updates will be posted in the app or on this page with a revised effective date.
